Kayaking This guided tour takes you from Backwash Bay out to the arch on the cape of the Osa Peninsula where the Pacific Ocean meets the Golfo Dulce. Enjoy sites such as pristine beaches backed by emerald green jungle and the magnificent sunrise coming over the eastern mountains from across the gulf. See animals such as the Scarlet Macaw, Pelicans, Frigate Birds, Sea Turtles and perhaps even Dolphins and Whales. This tour is best done in the early morning and at high tide. Approx. Duration 2-3 hours. PRICE: $35/person. 2 people minimum Rio Tamales Kayaking Jump aboard our double kayaks and enjoy the splendors of the Rio Tamales. Relax and enjoy the sounds of the gentle river while Kingfishers, Herons and Egrets fly by. After a short jaunt down the calm river, this tour takes you out in the gulf where you can play in the surf and paddle the gulf back to Encanta La Vida. Tide dependent tour. Approx. Duration 3-4 hours. PRICE: $50/person. 4 people minimum (including: transportation to Rio Tamales) Tree Climbing Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you climb a 60 foot strangler fig tree. You’ll be hooked into a harness on a be-lay system as you ascend this mighty tree. Once at the top, enjoy the incredible views of the Golfo Dulce and the Pacific Ocean. Take a moment to feel the soothing breeze coming from the ocean and perhaps you will even see an Aracari or a Trogon high in the trees. Once you have conquered the tree climbing, get ready for the adrenaline rush as you jump out of the tree and free fall 10 feet before you are caught by the experienced guide who will then be-lay you the rest of the way down. This tour also includes a hike through the rainforest with a resident biologist. Ages 8 and up. Approx. Duration 3 hours. PRICE: $55/person. Waterfall Repelling Hike through the jungle with an experienced biologist and learn about the natural history of the area before you experience the awesome adventure of rappelling down waterfalls. You will be given a class first to learn the basics of rappelling and then will rappel down a small waterfall before the final adventure of rappelling the mighty 100 foot King Louis waterfall. Be prepared to get wet. Note: waterfall is dry in the dry season, but still an adventure. Approx. Duration 3-4 hours. PRICE: $75/person. Combination Waterfall and Tree Repelling Combine these two amazing tours for a full day of fun and adventure. PRICE: $100/person. Dolphin Watching Feel the exhilaration of swimming with the dolphins. This tour begins at 7 am from the public dock in Puerto Jimenez where you will hop on board a boat that will take you out into the calm morning waters of the Golfo Dulce where your experienced local guide will look for dolphins. Once found, jump overboard with a mask and let the captain tow you behind the boat as the dolphins swim all around you. After swimming with the dolphins enjoy a relaxing snorkel at Playa Blanca. Approx. Duration 5 hours. PRICE: $200/boat. Up to 4 people per boat. Transport to and from the pier in Puerto Jimenez not included ($20-25 each way). Sportfishing Marvel in the abundant waters of the Pacific Ocean where you will encounter species such as Blue and Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Cubera Snapper, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Amber Jack and much more. This tour leaves from Backwash Bay, located just minutes from Encanta La Vida, around 7am and can be a full or half day adventure. Enjoy the convenience of a kayak shuttle from the beach to the fishing boat. Price includes lunch and on board beverages. PRICE RANGE: $350-$750 depending on number of people, length of fishing and type of boat. Advance notice advisable especially December to April. Kayak shuttle from lodge round trip $20 per group. Horseback Riding Enjoy the rainforest and beautiful beaches of Cabo Matapalo on horseback. Set out with an experienced guide who will point out monkeys, birds, sloths as you leisurely stroll along or enjoy the rush of galloping along pristine tropical beaches. This tour can be taken early morning or afternoon. Approx. Duration: 3 hours. PRICE: $35/person. HATHA YOGA Start your day by stretching and cleansing your body, mind and soul in a beautiful tropical setting. The yoga deck is situated facing the ocean underneath shady trees. Classes taught by licensed yoga instructors. Offered daily Mon.- Fri. at 8am and Saturdays at 4pm. Approx. Duration: 1 ½ hours PRICE: $10/person. Therapeutic Massage Relax in the privacy of your cabina with a therapeutic massage by our professional masseuse. She is certified in Deep Tissue, Reiki, Swedish, Pressure Point and numerous other massage techniques.
